Kenna Wells was inspired to apply to UC Davis by an article about celebrated California winemaker Heidi Barret. Relocating to the West Coast, Kenna completed a four-year viticulture and enology degree in 2020. During her time at Davis, she worked in the sensory laboratory under the mentorship of Dr. Hildegarde Heymann and Annegret Cantu, which cultivated a profound interest in the analytical dimensions of wine.

Since graduating, Kenna has garnered extensive experience by working hands-on in wineries in both the United States and in France, including stints at the University of California, Davis's research winery, Rivers-Marie in Calistoga, Colgin Cellars in Napa and in Burgundy with Domaine Ghislaine Barthod and Louis Boillot. Her academic and practical experience in vine-growing and winemaking informs her approach to wine criticism.
